Vrnjačka Banja Springs

Wellness & Spa Tour Serbia

 Central Serbia Helth Resort

Pack your swimsuits and head to Vrnjačka Banja for a swim. We relax in the thermal mineral waters of the "Slatina" hotel or the "Topla Voda" spring (lit. Hot Water spring). Enjoy a walk in the parks of the Vrnjačka River, looking for hidden springs where we wash like the ancient Romans once did. By highway from Belgrade, we arrive in Vrnjačka Banja in 2.5 hours.

Vrnjačka Banja

Vrnjačka Banja is the most famous and one of the largest spas in Serbia. About 10,000 inhabitants live in Vrnjačka Banja. It is located about 190 km from Belgrade and 120 km from Niš. Mount Goč (1216m) rises above Vrnjačka Banja. The Kopaonik ski center is also nearby, as well as the medieval Serbian monasteries Žiča and Ljubostinja. Vrnjačka Banja has a long tradition as a health resort. Archaeological investigations testify to the first sources used by the Romans in the period from the 2nd to the 4th century. There are seven mineral springs in the Spa. Four of them are used for various therapies (Snežnik, Slatina, Topla Voda, and Jezero), and three springs are used for bottling and selling natural mineral water for drinking "Vrnjci" and "Element". Vrnjačka Banja is one of the oldest tourist destinations in the Balkans. "Funding Society of Sour-Hot Water" was founded in 1868 as the first tourist organization, which invited people to spa water therapy. At that time, importance was attached to balls, masquerades, and carnivals. They are still preserved today through the Vrnjačka Carnival. Belimarković Castle, one of the symbols of the place, was built in 1888. The Church of the Holy Virgin from 1834 is located on Čajka hill above the main promenade, to which a well-maintained path leads. Vrnjačka Banja has a large offer of hotels of all categories, apartments of private houses, and rooms for rent. Many sports grounds also enable the arrival of athletes from all over Serbia and Europe for training camps.
We recommend enjoying the minerals from the Hot Water spring or the salt water of the Slatina hotel pool.

Topla voda – Roman Spring

The spring Topla voda (lit. Hot Water), better known as the Roman spring, is located near the Japanese garden - the most beautiful part of the Vrnjačka Banje park. At the end of the 19th century, Felix Kanic mentions the Romans who used the benefits of mineral waters for healing in this area and built the Aqua Orciane spa. Traces from the Roman period were discovered in 1924, at the catchment of the hot springs by digging at a depth of 2.4 meters, when carved rocks were found from which mineral water flowed. A large number of Roman coins from the end of the 1st and beginning of the 4th century, the remains of the first known bathing pool as well as other valuable objects were found. It is also believed that the Turks used these waters during the 17th and 18th centuries. And before their departure from these parts, they buried the healing springs. German geologist Baron Herder made the first analysis on the order of Prince Miloš in 1835. In 1883, the Kursalon was built, in 1892. the first bath, and after 1924 a pavilion with a central spring and a thermo-mineral bath. In 1937, deep drilling was started to obtain a new amount of water. New fountains were installed in 1975. Spring water Topla voda belongs to the group of alkaline carbonic acid homeotherms with a temperature of 36.5°C. The spring was renovated in 1989 and officially revived with the installation of a glass pyramid as an architectural solution. It is available as a public bathroom.

Hotel Slatina

Hotel Slatina is the best place to relax and escape from a busy life. The combination of modern and traditional is the source of pleasure. Slatina also means a source of salt water, land under the influence of salts. In addition to the sauna, steam bath, salt room, and tepidarium, the Wellness and Spa of the Slatina Hotel include an outdoor pool surrounded by natural greenery in a calming atmosphere, as well as a saltwater pool for relaxation. The salt concentration in the pool is close to seawater. The stay is recommended for people of all ages. Saltwater stimulates circulation and has a relaxing effect on the entire body. It is recommended for couples of all ages and in the summer for families with children.

We also recommend staying at Hotel Solaris (especially in the summer), which has one of the best wellness and spa centers in Vrnjačka Banja. Since recently, Vrnjačka Banja has also had a 5-star hotel - Tonanti, which welcomes guests in its pools throughout the year. It is worth mentioning the renovated Fontana and Zvezda hotels, the Zepter hotel, and the Park hotel, while the Merkur hotel is recommended for patients with prescribed therapies.
Let the scent of the spa park greet you when the breeze from Goč rises.
