Ovčar-Kablar Gorge

After an hour and a half of driving along the Miloš Veliki highway, we arrive at Ovčar-Kablar Gorge. We take a break at Lake Međuvršje, which was created by building a dam on the Zapadna Morava River. The peaks of Ovčar and Kablar rise above the gorge. We call this part "Little Serbian Holy Mountain" - 10 medieval monasteries are hidden in the nature...

The Monastery of the Annunciation - Serbian Ortodox Monastery

We will visit the Annunciation Monastery located in Ovčar Banja. According to the inscription on the front door, it was built in 1601 on the site of a former temple from the 12th century. Beloved by the people, the Serbian patriarch Pavle became a monk in the Annunciation Monastery. The monastery is female. The most significant monasteries in Ovčar-Kablar Gorge are Nikolje, Holy Trinity Monastery, Preobraženje Monastery (Transfiguration of Jesus), and Vaznesenje Monastery (Ascension of Jesus).

Sirogojno

We continue our journey and arrive at the village called Sirogojno. We visit the open-air museum - the old village of Sirogojno. More than 50 houses transferred from several locations from the surrounding villages of Zlatibor authentically show us the architecture, the way of family life, and the economic activities of the household during the 19th and early 20th centuries. We take a break here and a good lunch is guaranteed.

Stopića Cave

After a short walk along a forest path at an altitude of 711 meters, we discover the Stopića Cave, the jewel of the Zlatibor Mountains. It is 1,691 meters long, and a stream flows through it. The most attractive part of the cave is the Bigrene tubs, which cascade into each other. There is a 10-meter-high waterfall in the cave. We walk for 330 meters through cave halls and river channels.

Gostilje waterfall

We enjoy the fresh air and reach the Gostilje waterfall in the village of the same name. The water slides off the moss-covered rocks forming a waterfall 20 meters high. Gostilje waterfall was created from a mountain river that flows into the Katušnica river in front of the waterfall, creating an environment of untouched nature dominated by beech and pine forests.

Zlatibor

We arrive at our final destination, Mount Zlatibor. Zlatibor is a tourist center that, with its contents, allows tourists to stay all year round. Excellent hotels of different categories are available. There are mountain villas and apartments on every corner. The offer includes hiking trails, caves and waterfalls, an adventure park, and quad biking. The highest peak of Zlatibor is Tornik.

Gold Gondola

We board the longest gondola in the world. The Zlatibor Gold Gondola connects the center of Zlatibor with Tornik peak. Regularly operates 72 cabins, while the maximum capacity is 90 cabins if needed. With a smooth ride, we cross the 9-kilometer section, enjoying the view of Ribničko Lake and Zlatibor landscapes that change during the 25-minute drive. We take a break at the top of Tornik at an altitude of 1496 m above sea level.

The magical river Uvac rises at the foot of Jadovnik mountain meanders through the Uvac river canyon and continues across three reservoir lakes (Sjeničko, Zlatarsko, and Radoinjsko Lake). The Uvac Canyon belongs to Sjenica Lake. It is located at an altitude of 985m. The depth of the lake is about 100 meters. The special reserve was established to protect the habitat of the griffon vulture.

An exciting ride on a dirt road and macadam through hilly areas, passing by birch forests. A shorter hike to the Molitva viewpoint from where you can see the beauty of the Uvac canyon. A break to take photos of the griffon vultures flying over the lookout.

Griffon vulture

The species of eagle vulture, the griffon vulture, is the biggest attraction of the Uvac nature reserve. An impressive bird of prey with a wingspan of up to 3 meters and an average weight of around 9kg. Today, about 500 individuals fly around the canyon in their natural habitat. The griffon vulture colony in the Uvac canyon is one of the largest in Europe. The presence of 104 different species of birds was registered in the reserve.

Cruising Uvac - Ice Cave

We are going down from the viewpoint and boarding the boat. We cruise through the meanders of Uvac and the nature reserve in its most beautiful part for about 2 hours. On the territory of the nature reserve, there is the Uvac cave system, the largest speleological object in Serbia, whose channels are connected with a total length of 6,185m. We visit the Ice Cave, where the temperature is 8 degrees throughout the year.
