Back in 1884, by decree of the Minister of Education, the oldest and largest museum in Belgrade - the National Museum - began its work. The oldest museum institution in Serbia, preserving and collecting museum materials, provided the basis and enabled the city to own over 40 art, cultural-historical, memorial, technical and natural-historical museums. The multitude of exhibits, interesting settings, and treasures in museum possession will leave you breathless. Whether you enjoy the beauty of works of art or want to learn more about the history of Serbia or get to know the work of Nikola Tesla, we are here to bring everything closer to you and present it in the best possible way. We also focus our attention on the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Ethnographic Museum, the Museum of History, the Museum of Yugoslavia, the Air Force Museum, as well as the Military Museum located at the Belgrade Fortress. In addition to these museums, visits to small museums and private collections, such as the Automobile Museum, Museum of Chocolate, or the more modern and newer Museum of Illusions, are unavoidable.
